(ii) Imported dates are examined at the Sri Lanka Customs' Examination Yard by Customs Officers and Food and Health Officers of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine. The Officers of the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine will test the dates as to whether they are suitable for human consumption and it is only on their recommendation that the dates will be released to the importers. If they are not suitable for human consumption, they will be destroyed in the presence of Health Inspectors and importers or will be re-exported to the country of origin at the expense of the importers.
