Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Chief Government Whip moved the Bill entitled

“People’s Bank (Amendment)”

to amend the People’s Bank Act, No. 29 of 1961.


Main Business of the House for Today

Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance

Resolution moved by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament that the Proclamation made by the President under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act, No. 28 of 1988, bringing into operation the provisions of Part II of the aforesaid Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from 22nd May, 2019, was approved.

Accordingly, the Emergency Motion was approved by Parliament with a majority of 14 votes, extending it for another month. 22 votes were cast in favour of the motion while 08 votes were against it.


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Distribution of lands for people at Jeyapuram in Pooneryn” was proposed by the Hon. S. Shritharan.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1830 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Tuesday 4th June 2019.
