Private Members’ Bills
(i) The Hon. (Al-Haj) A. H. M. Azwer was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled
M.S. Thowfeek Foundation (Incorporation)
(ii) “Bill to ensure a fair, independent and impartial trial to the judges of the superior courts in case of resolution for removal; to provide for a procedure for investigations; and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.”
A division was taken (34 in favour; 72 against) and the Hon. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe was not granted leave to introduce the above Bill.
(iii) The Hon. Janaka Bandara was granted leave to introduce the Bill, entitled
Sri Lanka Amadyapa Maha Sabhawa (Incorporation)
The above (i) and (iii) were referred to the Minister of Social Services for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47 (5).
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 3 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-
(i) Regulations under the Motor Traffic Act
(ii) Two Regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Conservation of Gal Oya National Park” was moved by the Hon. Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1850 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Thursday 23rd January 2014.
