Hon. Wasantha Aluwihare,— To ask the Minister of Ports and Highways,—
(a) Is he aware that although the construction work of a new bridge in place of the narrow bridge which is there at the junction of the A-9 road and the access road to Katudeniya and Wariyapola villages belonging to the Ukuwela Divisional Secretariat Division in the Matale District was initiated, the said construction work has been suspended by now ?
(b) Will he state—
(i) the financial allocation on which the commencement of the construction of the above new bridge was based;
(ii) the amount of money allocated for the construction of the bridge as per the estimates; and
(iii) the date on which the construction work of the bridge was commenced and the date on which the completion of the construction was due ?
(c) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the reasons that led to the suspension of the construction work of the bridge mentioned above;
(ii) of the amount of money spent on the construction accomplished so far;
(iii) the date on which the construction work of this bridge will be completed ?
(d) If not, why ?

(අ) ඔව්.
මෙම පාලම දැනට පිහිටා ඇති උස මට්ටම අඩි 14ක් සහ අඟල් 9ක් වේ. නමුත් මීටර් 40ක පමණ කෙටි දුර ප්රමාණයකින් වංගුව සහිතව මහනුවර - යාපනය මාර්ගයට ප්රවේශ වීම සඳහා වාහන සහ මඟී ආරක්ෂාව සහිතව මෙම පාලම සැලසුම් කළ හැකි උපරිම උස ප්රමාණය අඩි 16යි, අඟල් 5ක් වේ. නමුත් දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව මෙම උස ප්රමාණය අඩි 20ක් විය යුතු බව සඳහන් කරන ලදී.
ඒ අනුව දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සමඟ කරන ලද සාකච්ඡා කීපයකින් පසුව මෙම උස ප්රමාණය අඩි 18ක් දක්වා අඩු කළ අතර එම උස ප්රමාණයෙන්ද කෙටි දුරකින් වංගුව සහිතව මහනුවර - යාපනය මාර්ගයට සම්බන්ධ කිරීම අපහසු වූ නිසා නැවත දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කර මෙම උස ප්රමාණය අඩි 17ක් වන සේ පාලම ඉදි කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර නැවත වැඩ ආරම්භ කරන ලදී.
මෙම ගැටලුව නිරාකරණය කර ගන්නා තෙක් පාලමේ ඉදිකිරීම් කටයුතු අතර මඟදී අත් හිටුවීමට සිදු විය.
(ආ) (i) මහා මාර්ග අමාත්යාංශ යටතේ වන ප්රතිපාදන
(ii) මිලියන 44යි.
(iii) වැඩ ආරම්භ කළ වර්ෂය - 2008 සැප්තැම්බර්.
වැඩ අවසන් කිරීමට නියමිතව තිබූ වර්ෂය - 2009 සැප්තැම්බර්.
(ඇ) (i) ඉහත (අ) පිළිතුරේ සඳහන් කර ඇත.
(ii) රුපියල් මිලියන 19යි.
(iii) ඉහත ගැටලුව නිරාකරණය කර නැවත වැඩ ආරම්භ කර ඇති අතර, 2014 මාර්තු මාසයට පෙර වැඩ අවසන් කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇත.
(ඈ) පැන නොනඟී.
