3430/2014: AMPHIBIAN, FRESH WATER FISH AND REPTILES ENDEMIC TO SRI LANKA : DETAILS

Hon. P. Harrison,— To ask the Minister of Wildlife Resources Conservation,—

(a) Will he inform this House of—

(i) the number of amphibian species that has been identified within Sri Lanka;

(ii) the number of endemic amphibian species, identified out of aforesaid species; and

(iii) the number of extinct amphibian species, endemic to Sri Lanka, by now?

(b) Will he state —

(i) the number of fresh water fish species, endemic to this country;

(ii) the extinct species, out of those by now; and

(iii) the initiatives that have been implemented to protect the fish species that are endemic to this country?

(c) Will he also state —

(i) the number of reptile species, endemic to this country;

(ii) the species that are threatened with extinction out of those, by now; and

(iii) the initiatives that have been implemented, to protect the aforesaid reptile species?

(d) If not, why?
