Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam,— To ask the Minister of Health,—
(a) Is he aware that a large amount out of the BTI bacterium that was imported from Cuba has not been used upto now?
(b) Will he state—
(i) the amount of BTI bacterium that remains unused out of the amount that was imported from Cuba ; and
(ii) the reasons for not using that bacterium to control mosquitoes until dengue menace reaches epidemic proportions?
(c) If not, why ?

ගරු කථානායකතුමනි, එම ප්රශ්නයට පිළිතුර මෙසේය.
ජාතික ඩෙංගු මර්දන ඒකකය මඟින් එවන ලද වාර්තාවට අනුව,
(අ) ඩෙංගු මර්දනය සඳහා පසු ගිය වර්ෂයේ (2012) දී කියුබාවෙන් බීටීඅයි බැක්ටීරියා ආනයනය කර නොමැත. 2010.09.15 දින කියුබාවෙන් බීටීඅයි බැක්ටීරියා කීටනාශක ලීටර් 10,000ක ප්රමාණයක් මිල දී ගන්නා ලදී.
(ආ) (i) සියලු කියුබානු බැක්ටීරියා කීට නාශක ප්රාදේශීය කාර්යාල සඳහා නිකුත් කර ඇති අතර, මේ වන විට ඒවා සියල්ල භාවිත කර අවසන් වී ඇත.
(ii) දිවයින පුරා ප්රාදේශීය මට්ටමින් එම බැක්ටීරියාව මදුරු මර්දනය සඳහා ප්රයෝජනයට ගෙන ඇත.
(ඇ) පැන නොනඟී.
