Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Chief Government Whip moved the Bill entitled
“Merchant Shipping (Amendment)”
to amend the Merchant Shipping Act, No. 52 of 1971.
Private Members’ Bills
The Hon. Bandula Lal Bandarigoda was granted leave to introduce the,
“Bill to abolish the death penalty and to make consequential provisions”
The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Justice & Prison Reforms for report to Parliament under Standing Order 52 (6) of the Parliament.
Votes of Condolence
Votes of Condolence on the following Ex-Members of Parliament were taken up and completed:-
(i) The Late Hon. Senaraja Samaranayake
(ii) The Late Hon. Abdul Razak Munsoor
(iii) The Late Hon. V.K. Indika
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1519 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Tuesday 6th August 2019.
