Hon. Imran Maharoof,— To ask the Minister of Industry and Commerce,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the approved cadre of the Lanka Mineral Sands Limited in Pulmudei;
(ii) the number of employees in that company at present;
(iii) the profit earned by this company in the previous year;
(iv) the divisions that are operative under this company; and
(v) separately, the number of employees who are serving in each of the aforesaid divisions?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) the number of newly recruited employees to the company; and
(ii) the scheme of recruitment that was followed to recruit those employees?
(c) If not, why?

* Answer tabled:
(a) (i) The approved cadre of the Lanka Mineral Sands Ltd Pulmudai is 842 (70 in the Head Office, 680 in the factory in Pulmudai and 92 in Kokilai.)
(ii) The number of employees in that company at present is 683 employees as at 30th , June 2017.
(iii) The profit earned by this company in the previous year was Rs.154 million.
(iv) The divisons that are operative under this company are as follows;
1. Head Office at Rajagiriya
2. Factory at Pulmudai
3. Ship Yard at Cod Bay
4. New factory at Kokilai (The preliminary constructions have just been started according to the provisions.)
(v) The number of employees who are serving in each of the aforesaid divisions are as follows;
