Hon. T. Ranjith De Soyza,—To ask the Minister of Agriculture,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the total extent of land in which paddy was cultivated in this season;
(ii) the extent of land in which the cultivations were destroyed owing to the prevailing severe drought; and
(iii) the number of metric tonnes of paddy which is estimated to be lost to the country owing to the drought?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the reliefs the government intends to grant to the farmers whose cultivations were damaged;
(ii) whether the Ministry of Agriculture has made financial allocations for that; and
(iii) if so, the amount of money so allocated?
(c) If not, why?
