Hon. Anura Dissanayaka,— To ask the Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether a CCTV camera system was installed at gem mining land auction site at Thammannewa-Kataragama;
(ii) of the period during which the CCTV camera system was in operation;
(iii) whether those CCTV cameras were purchased;
(iv) if not, whether they were obtained on lease;
(v) if obtained under lease, the institute which provided the CCTV cameras;
(vi) the procedure adopted either for purchasing or leasing the said camera system;
(vii) whether pay gravel was transported on the sly from the Thammenna site on or about 03.04.2012 despite the installation of a CCTV camera system; and
(viii) if so, whether the transport of pay gravel is recorded in the CCTV camera system?
(b) If not, why?
