Hon. Kumarasiri Rathnayaka,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of public schools in Sri Lanka;
(ii) of the number of schools with Principals in Principals’ Service and Acting Principals in the said schools, separately; and
(iii) of the number of schools with Acting Principals by province, separately?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether there is a procedure to absorb the Acting Principals into the Sri Lanka Principals’ Service;
(ii) if so, the measures taken so far;
(iii) whether competitive examinations will be conducted to select the deserving candidates in filling the vacancies in the post of principal; and
(iv) if so, the dates on which the competitive examinations will be held?
(c) If not, why?
