Hon. Ishak Rahuman,— To ask the Minister of Fisheries,—(1)
(a) Will he inform this House of—
(i) the areas where shrimp farming is carried out in Sri Lanka;
(ii) the annual shrimp production in Sri Lanka;
(iii) the concessions granted to the shrimp farming industry;
(iv) the measures taken to encourage shrimp farmers?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) of the number of entrepreneurs engaged in shrimp farming for export purposes;
(ii) of the income earned from the export of shrimp from 2016 to date, separately according to each year;
(iii) whether measures will be taken to increase the revenue generated from the export of shrimp;
(iv) if so, of the measures that will be taken in that regard?
(c) If not, why?
