Hon. T. Ranjith De Soysa,— To ask the Minister of Mass Media and Information,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the foreign broadcasting services that operated in Sri Lanka after Independence ;
(ii) the impact of those broadcasting services had on this country ;
(iii) whether action was taken to discontinue those broadcasting services ;
(iv) if so, of the Government which took action in this regard; and
(v) the years in which those courses of action were taken?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether approval will be granted to foreign broadcasting services to operate in Sri Lanka in the future ;
(ii) if so, the basis on which the aforesaid approval will be granted ; and
(iii) the objectives expected to be achieved by taking action on such a basis?
(c) If not, why?
