Hon. Shantha Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he admits that a number of crops that can be cultivated in Sri Lanka are imported to this country;
(ii) whether the annual requirement of rice, maize, green gram, cowpea, ginger and turmeric has been identified by now;
(iii) if so, separately of the amounts of the aforesaid requirement; and
(iv) whether a programme has been prepared to cultivate the aforesaid crops in Sri Lanka?
(b) If not, why?
