Main Business of the House for Today
The following Motions (appearing as Item No. 2 and 3 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-
Utilizing paddy lands that cannot be cultivated with paddy for productive purposes
That this Parliament resolves that programmes be formulated in such a manner that the law on paddy lands reclamation is not violated, so paddy lands that are impossible to be cultivated with paddy could be utilized for productive agricultural crop cultivation only, without leaving any room for constructions to take place in them, once such lands have been identified after a proper study.
Regularizing the development and promotion of the coconut industry and coconut resources
Since coconut occupied an important place in the commercial products, this Parliament resolves that meaningful steps be taken to regularize development and to promote coconut industry and coconut resources, which would grow as a significant contributor to the Gross Domestic Product of the country while sustaining the resources and its environment.
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Liquor shops in Senkadagala to be closed down” was moved by the Hon. Lakshman Kiriella.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1815 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 19th March 2013.
