was passed by the House with amendments.
The following Motions (appearing as Item No. 2 to 5 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-
Making new Laws to regulate Contempt of Court Proceedings
That this Parliament resolves that new laws should be brought into regulate Contempt of Court proceedings as to strengthen democracy and to maintain a vibrant free media ensuring equal justice to all.
Formulating a national policy for home base workers
That this Parliament resolves that a proper national policy on nearly one million home base workers who engage on various productions within various employment generating sectors of Sri Lanka be formulated by the political authority with the assistance of experts, scholars and intellectuals as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations in all related fields and that the aforesaid policy be implemented early.
Providing an allowance in appraisal of graduate Grama Niladharis
That this parliament resolves that necessary steps be taken to grant a pay hike or an allowance to graduate Grama Niladharis in appraisal of their graduate qualifications as no consideration has been paid to that qualification so far even though about 30 % to 40 % of the Grama Niladharis currently in service have acquired graduate qualifications despite the fact that these Grama Niladharis who serve to provide public service to the people at village level have been recruited on the marks scored at a competitive examination that they faced post G.C.E. (A/L) qualifying.
Compiling a dissertation on historical places in Galle District
That this Parliament resolves that an in-depth study be carried out on the places of historical, archeological and cultural importance in the Galle District and a dissertation of academic importance be compiled on such places.
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Reduction of stamp fees on legal document” was moved by the Hon. Ajith P. Perera.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1903 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Tuesday 19th February 2013.
