Ministerial Statements
Hon. (Dr.) Anil Jayantha, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning on behalf of the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development replied to the Question raised by the Hon. Sajith Premadasa under the Standing Order 27(2) of the Parliament on 06.02.2026 regarding difficulties faced by SMEs.


Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning moved the following Bills entitled-
(i)    Financial Transactions Reporting (Amendment) - to amend the Financial Transactions Reporting Act, No. 6 of 2006.
(ii)    Convention on the Suppression of Terrorist Financing (Amendment) - to amend the Convention on the Suppression of Terrorist Financing Act, No. 25 of 2005.


House agreed to the following Motion moved by the Hon. Chief Government Whip,

Select Committee of Parliament to look into and Report to Parliament on the release of 323 Containers from the Port of Colombo without undergoing mandatory physical inspection and submit its proposals and recommendations in that regard
That the time period granted to the Select Committee of Parliament to look into and Report to Parliament on the release of 323 Containers from the Port of Colombo without undergoing mandatory physical inspection and submit its proposals and recommendations in that regard, as specified in the Resolution passed by Parliament on 19th November 2025 be extended up to 21st July 2026 in terms of Standing Order 102 of the Parliament as the Committee needs further time to report its observations to Parliament.

Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “Easter Sunday Attack on 21st April 2019” was proposed by the Hon. Sajith Premadasa, Member of Parliament.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1816 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Friday 10th April 2026.
