Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education moved the following Bills entitled-
(i) Inland Revenue (Amendment) - to amend the Inland Revenue Act, No. 24 of 2017.
(ii) Social Security Contribution Levy (Amendment) - to amend the Social Security Contribution Levy Act, No. 25 of 2022.
(iii) The Hon. Minister of Justice and National Integration moved the Bill entitled
“The Rescue, Rehabilitation and Insolvency (Corporate and Personal)”
to amend and consolidates the law relating to the Rescue, Rehabilitation and Insolvency of Individuals and Companies; to repeal the Insolvency Ordinance (Chapter 97); to amend the Companies Act, No. 07 of 2007; to amend the Inland Revenue Act, No. 24 of 2017; to amend the Mediation Boards Act, No. 72 of 1988; and to provide for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.
Main Business of the House for Today
Determination of the Remuneration and Conditions of Service of the Officers and Employees of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption under the Anti-Corruption Act (appearing as Item No. 1 of today’s Order Paper)
was approved by the House.
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Grievances faced by Development Officers” was proposed by the Hon. Chandana Sooriyaarachchi, Member of Parliament.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1738 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Thursday 19th March 2026.
