Ministerial Statements

Hon. Sunil Kumara Gamage, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports made a Ministerial Statement regarding International youth day, 2025.


Presentation of Bills

(i)    The Hon. Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education moved the Bill entitled

“National Building Research Institute”

to provide for the establishment of the National Building Research Institute and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

(ii) The Hon. Minister of Justice and National Integration moved the Bill entitled

“Penal Code (Amendment)”

to amend the Penal Code (Chapter 19).


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 3 of today’s Order Paper) were approved by the House.:-

(i) Gambling Regulatory Authority Bill - with amendments
(ii)    Regulations under the Public Debt Management Act
(iii)    Order under the Foreign Exchange Act


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Program for young people active contribution to the economy” was proposed by the Hon. Danushka Ranganath, Member of Parliament.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1746 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Wednesday 20th August 2025.
