1 : Meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts to elect a Chair
Presentation of Papers by the Speaker
(i) Budget Estimate of the National Audit Office for the year 2026 prepared by the National Audit Office along with the observations of the Minister assigned the subject of Finance in terms of Section 34 of the National Audit Act, No. 19 of 2018.
(ii) First Installment – Part IV of the Report of the Auditor– General for the Financial Year 2024 in terms of Article 154(6) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
Presentation of Papers
(i) Annual Performance Report of the Department of Technical Education and Training for the year 2024.
(ii) Annual Report of the National Authority for the Protection of Victims of Crime and Witnesses for the year 2023.
(iii) Report on the submission of observations and steps taken in terms of the Standing Order 119(4) of the Parliament with regard to the matters mentioned on the Department of National Zoological Gardens in the report of the Committee on Public Accounts which was presented to Parliament.

Ministerial Statements
(i) Hon. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education replied to the Question raised by the Hon. (Dr.) Ramanathan Archchuna under the Standing Order 27(2) of the Parliament on 11.07.2025 regarding employment for graduates from state universities.
(ii) Hon. Harshana Nanayakkara, Attorney at Law, Minister of Justice and National Integration replied to the Question raised by the Hon. Sivagnanam Shritharan under the Standing Order 27(2) of the Parliament on 28.02.2025 regarding political prisoners held in prisons.
Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Minister of Justice and National Integration moved the Bill entitled
“Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal)”
to repeal the Presidents’ Entitlements Act, No. 4 of 1986.
Main Business of the House for Today
Bills of Exchange (Amendment) Bill (appearing as Item No. 1 of today’s Order Paper)
was passed by the House.
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “Current Economy of the Country” was proposed by the Hon. Wijesiri Basnayake, Member of Parliament.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 19th August 2025.
