Ministerial Consultative Committees
That in terms of the provisions of Standing Order 112(1) of the Parliament and the decision taken on 08th December, 2020 by the Committee of Selection, the following two (02) Ministerial Consultative Committees be appointed to be designated, in addition to the Twenty Eight (28) Ministerial Consultative Committees approved by Parliament on 08th September 2020.
1. Ministerial Consultative Committee on Technology
2. Ministerial Consultative Committee on Public Security
Each Ministerial Consultative Committee shall consist of the Cabinet Minister in charge of the relevant subject as the Chair, State Minister, Deputy Minister and Five (5) other Members of Parliament to be nominated by the Committee of Selection to discuss and report upon such matters as are referred to it.
The quorum of each Ministerial Consultative Committee shall be three (3) Members.
Private Members’ Bills
The Hon. (Dr.) Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe was granted leave to introduce the following Bills, entitled
(i) “Tobacco Tax Act, No. 08 of 1999 (Amendment)”
(ii) “Declaration of Assets and Liabilities Law, No. 1 of 1975 (Amendment)”
The above Bill (i) was referred to the Minister of Finance and (ii) was referred to the His Excellency the President for report to Parliament under Standing Order 52 (6) of the Parliament.
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 11 of today’s Order Paper) were approved by the House:-
(i) Four Orders under the Ports and Airports Development Levy Act
(ii) Two Orders under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act
(iii) Order under the Finance Act
(iv) Three Orders under the Strategic Development Projects Act
(v) Intellectual Property (Amendment) Bill
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Measures to award the appointments to Principals on super numeracy basis” was proposed by the Hon. H. Nandasena.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1811 Hrs. until 1000 Hrs. on Friday 8th January 2021.
