Presentation of Bills
The Minister of Labour presented the following Bills entitled-
(i) Shop and Office Employees (Regulation of Employment and Remuneration) (Amendment) - to amend the Shop and Office Employees (Regulation of Employment and Remuneration) Act (Chapter 129)
(ii) Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children (Amendment) - to amend the Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children Act, No. 47 of 1956
(iii) Minimum Wages (Indian Labour) (Amendment) - to amend the Minimum Wages (Indian Labour) Ordinance (Chapter 135)
(iv) Factories (Amendment) - to amend the Factories Ordinance (Chapter 128)
Main Business of the House for Today
Twentieth Amendment to the Constitution Bill
The Second Reading of the Bill was passed by the House after having taken a division (156 in favour; 65 against).
The Third Reading of the Bill was passed by the House, with a majority of two-thirds. A Division was taken (156 in favour; 65 against; 0 abstain; 01 absent) and the Bill was passed with amendments.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 2136 Hrs. until 1000 Hrs. on Friday 23rd October 2020.
