House agreed to the following Motions moved by the Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena, the Leader of the House of Parliament-
(i) Committee on Parliamentary Business
That notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order 115 of Parliament, the Committee on Parliamentary Business shall consist of the Speaker as the Chair, the Deputy Speaker, the Deputy Chairperson of Committees, the Leader of the House of Parliament, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, the Chief Government Whip, the Chief Opposition Whip and twenty four (24) other Members to be nominated by the Committee of Selection
(ii) Committee on High Posts
That notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order 124 (1) of the Parliament and the resolution adopted by Parliament on 12th July 2019, the Committee on High Posts shall consist of twenty five (25) Members of Parliament to be nominated by the Committee of Selection, as per the decision taken on 21st January 2020, by the Committee of Selection
Main Business of the House for Today
Three Regulations under the Construction Industry Development Act (appearing as Item No. 1 to 3 of today’s Order Paper)
were approved by the House.
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Political, social and economic situation of the country” was proposed by the Hon. Wijepala Hettiarachchi.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1927 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Thursday 23rd January 2020.
