The Hon. Chief Government Whip moved the Bill entitled
“Ruhunu Economic Development Corporation of Sri Lanka”
to provide for the establishment of the Ruhunu Economic Development Corporation of Sri Lanka for the purpose of identifying, formulating and co-ordinating the implementation of Economic Development Projects, Plans, Programmes or Schemes within the Ruhunu Development Area and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
House agreed to the following Motions moved by the Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, the Leader of the House of Parliament,
(i) Select Committee of Parliament to look into and report to Parliament on the terrorist attacks that took place in different places in Sri Lanka on 21st April 2019
In terms of Standing Order 102 of the Parliament, this Parliament do grant the Select Committee of Parliament appointed by a resolution passed by Parliament on 22nd May 2019 to look into and report to Parliament on the terrorist attacks that took place in different places in Sri Lanka on 21st April 2019, an extension of time till 30th September 2019 to present its final report.
(ii) Legislative Standing Committee
That notwithstanding the provisions of the Standing Order 51(3)(b) of the Parliament, this Parliament do grant the Legislative Standing Committee an extension of time till 30th September 2019 to submit its report to Parliament on the “Draft Statute of Tourism Development Bureau of Uva Provincial Council” which was referred to it by the Speaker on 27th June 2019.

Regulations under the National Medicines Regulatory Authority Act
were approved by the House.
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “Increase of salary or cost of living allowance for public and private sector employees” was proposed by the Hon. Gamini Lokuge.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1753 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Thursday 22nd August 2019.
