Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Gayantha Karunatileka, Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media and Chief Government Whip moved the Bill entitled
“Registration of Electors (Special Provisions)”
to make special provisions to exempt internally displaced persons from certain requirements of the Registration of Electors Act, No. 44 of 1980; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Private Members’ Bills
The Hon. Edward Gunasekara was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled
“Cancer Care Trust (Incorporation)”
The above Bill was referred to the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47(5) of the Parliament.
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 to 17 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-
(i) Ten Orders under the Special Commodity Levy Act
(ii) Two Resolutions under the Customs Ordinance
(iii) Three Orders under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act
(iv) Order under the Ports and Airports Development Levy Act
(v) Economic Service Charge (Amendment) Bill - with amendments
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Prevention of Kalani River from water pollution” was proposed by the Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayathissa.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1904 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Thursday 4th May 2017.
