0576/2010: Raddolugama Housing Scheme

0576/’10 Hon. John Amaratunga,— To ask the Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities,— Is he aware that — the former General Manager of the Housing Development Authority planned to provide an access road across the border canal of the Raddolugama Housing Scheme for the person by the name of Wanigasinghe who resides on an auctioned plot of land; on the complaints made to His Excellency the President by the recipients of houses an order has been issued to close down the aforesaid road by the letter dated 31.01.2006 sent from the President’s Office to the Secretary to the then Ministry of Housing and Constructions; and the former General Manager has planned to provide that road by making a false submission to the Parliamentary Consultative Committee through the person named Wanigasinghe? Will he admit that — there is a wide road in front of the house of the person called Wanigasinghe; it has been planned to provide a deed by obtaining money on a promissory note for the purpose of providing a road at the back of the house as well; and this is the first instance in the history of Parliament that the Consultative Committee has been misled? Will he state whether steps will be taken to close the aforesaid road according to the recommendation of the letter of His Excellency the President dated 31.01.2006 as all the relevant reports have been handed over to the Chairman of the Authority? If not, why?
