0565/’10 Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Education,— Is he aware that — the teachers in the four educational zones in the Matara district were given promotions according to circular bearing no. 2004/14 on granting benefits to persons stagnating on the maximum steps salary scales, circular bearing no. 2005/04 on promotions, and the circular bearing no. 2008/45 on granting promotions to the graduate teachers who do not have post graduate qualifications; and the salary arrears relevant to the above mentioned have not yet been paid? Will he inform this House — separately of the number of teachers who have been given promotions according to the circulars bearing nos. 2004/14,2005/04 and 2008/45 and the number of teachers to whom the salary arrears have been paid accordingly; of the number of teachers who should be paid salary arrears by now; of the total amount of money that should be paid to them as salary arrears; of the reason for not paying the salary arrears up to now; and of the date on which the payment of salary arrears will be completed? If not, why?
