Hon. Thushara Indunil Amarasena,—To ask the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of Thalassemia patients reported from Kurunegala District from the year 2010 to date ;
(ii) of the Divisional Secretariat divisions from which the said patients have been reported;
(iii) of the hospitals where treatments for Thalassemia patients are available within the North Western Province;
(iv) of the steps that will be taken by the Ministry to extend the Thalassemia treatment facilities to other hospitals as well;
(v) whether an Operation Theatre and a gene bank is located in the Kurunegala District to facilitate the Thalassemia patients; and
(vi) of the steps taken by the Ministry to provide the treatments and medical facilities required by these patients?
(b) If not, why?
