Hon. Douglas Devananda,—To ask the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development ,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) more than three thousand four hundred families in Mullaitivu district engage in fisheries industry;
(ii) these fishermen engage in this industry in the deep sea and the coastal belt , which is 73 kilometers long; and
(iii) the fishermen have had to encounter various problems including the wrong navigation of fisheries vessels due to the non-availability of a lighthouse in this area ?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether action will be taken to construct a lighthouse in this area; and
(ii) if so , the date on which it will be done ?
(c) If not, why?
