Hon. (Al-Haj) A.H.M. Azwer,— To ask the Minister of Power and Energy,—
(a) Will he inform this House of—
(i) the names of the countries from where the coal required for the Norochcholai coal fired power plant is imported ;
(ii) the remedial measures adopted to remove the ash produced in coal combustion from the unclean smoke ;
(iii) the mechanism used to remove sulphur and sulphur dioxide contained in the unclean smoke ;
(iv) the height of the chimney which releases the purified smoke to the atmosphere ; and
(v) the composition of components expected to be maintained in smoke released after purification?
(b) Will he submit to this House—
(i) the method of obtaining water for the cooling process of the power plant ;
(ii) the difference in water temperature maintained at the intake and discharge mouths, in degrees celsius ; and
(iii) the possible harmful impact of warm water discharged from the power plant on marine life?
(c) If not, why?
