Hon. T. Ranjith De Soysa,— To ask the Minister of Plantation Industries,—
(a) Will he state —
(i) the land area of the tea small holdings;
(ii) the number of tea small holders;
(iii) the land area of the tea small holdings destroyed by the drought; and
(iv) the number of tea small holders suffering as a result of the drought;
in the Rathnapura District?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether the Tea Small Holdings Development Authority has made arrangements to develop the tea estates affected by the drought by now;
(ii) if so, what those arrangements are;
(iii) whether subsidies will be given for replanting of tea in order to minimize the damage caused to the tea small holders by the drought?
(c) If not, why?
