Hon. Y.G. Padmasiri,— To ask the Minister of Environment,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of raids conducted by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority in the year 2009 in order to curb unauthorized gem mining ; and
(ii) the total income generated or expected to be generated through them?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the total income generated through the export of Gem and Jewellery in year 2009 ;
(ii) whether it is a rise or a decline of the total income, in comparison to the previous year ;
(iii) as to what is known as Kimberly Procedure Certification ; and
(iv) of the steps taken in the year 2009 to promote the export of Gem and Jewellery?
(c) If not, why?
