0366/2010: Doctors in Govt. Hospitals

Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Health,—

(a) Will he state separately—

(i) the minimum doctor patient ratio that should exist according to the standards of the World Health Organization ;

(ii) the minimum doctor patient ratio that should exist in Sri Lanka according to the standards accepted by the Ministry of Health ;

(iii) the current doctor patient ratio in Sri Lanka ;

(iv) the number of doctors serving in hospitals that come under the Central Government ; and

(v) the number of doctors serving in hospitals that come under the Provincial Councils?

(b) Will he state—

(i) whether a decision has been taken to stop or limit recruiting the doctors who pass out from universities in Sri Lanka to the public service ; and

(ii) if so, the reasons for that?

(c) If not, why?
