Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Education,—

  1. Will he state—
    1. separately, the number of national schools and other government schools in Sri Lanka ;
    2. separately and on district basis the number of government schools in which the medium of instruction is English from grade I to G.C.E. (Advanced Level) and the number of government schools in which English language is used to conduct certain selected classes, though the medium of Instruction is not English ; and
    3. their names?
  2. Will he inform this House—
    1. the number of schools in the Bandaragama and Millaniya Divisional Secretariat Divisions, in which the medium of instruction is English?
    2. their names?
  3. Will he state—
    1. whether he admits the fact that at least two schools with its medium of instruction as English should be set up forthwith in each Divisional Secretariat division in order to face the future challenges associated with the use of English language ; and
    2. if not, the alternatives suggested for it?
  4. If not, why?
