1061/2017: Disabled persons affected due war in the NE

Hon. Douglas Devananda,— To ask the Minister of Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs—

(a) Is he aware —

(i) that there are many individuals who have become disabled owing to the past war which prevailed in the Northern and Eastern provinces;

(ii) that the lower body of  a substantial number of these individuals is paraplegic as a result of the damages caused to their vertebral column; and

(iii) that the majority out of these displaced persons have by now been resettled and another group is yet to be resettled?

(b) Will he inform this House—

(i) whether arrangements will be made to provide houses and toilets which have been appropriately constructed addressing disability access, when constructing  houses  and toilets for  the resettled persons in northern and eastern provinces by the government and non governmental organizations; and

(ii) if so, at which  percentage that will be?

(c) If not, why?
