Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Justice,—

(a) Will he state—

(i) whether a regulation to the effect that the maximum age limit for applying for the Sri Lanka Law College entrance examination should be 35 years, was imposed;

(ii) whether a copy of that will be tabled, if it has been gazetted; and

(iii) the date on which the said regulation will be submitted to Parliament to be passed?

(b) Will he further state—

(i) whether there is a necessity to prescribe a maximum age limit as mentioned above;

(ii) whether prescribing a maximum age limit in that manner is not in contravention of Article 12 (1) and Article 27 (2) (h) of Directive Principles of  state policy of the constitution?

(c) Will he submit to this House—

(i) whether a maximum age limit has been prescribed for Bachelor of Law (L.L.B.) graduates of University of Colombo, Open University of Sri Lanka and foreign universities to enter the Law College of Sri Lanka;

(ii) if not, the reason for prescribing an age limit only for the Law College entrance examination?

(d) Will he state—

(i) whether action will be taken to issue a directive in accordance with section 7(a) of the Council of Legal Education Ordinance, ordering to refrain from prescribing an age limit for applying for the said Law College entrance examination; and

(ii) if so, when?

(e) If not, why?
