Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Justice,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) rules can be imposed pertaining to the functions of the Sri Lanka Law College under the Legal Education Council Ordinance (Cap 276) ;
(ii) the approval of the Minister of Justice is necessary for imposing rules under Section 7 (1) of the Ordinance ; and
(iii) after gazetting rules under Section 7 (2) of the Ordinances they should be submitted to the Parliament as soon as possible for “approval” ?
(b) Will he accept that in terms of Section 7 (a) of the Ordinance Minister of Justice has the power to issue written directives to the Legal Education Council on policy matters?
(c) If so, will he state whether he will take action to exercise that power at a suitable time?
(d) If not, why?
