Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) the number of Grama Niladhari Divisions ;
(ii) the approximate land area ;
(iii) the number of Divisional Secretary’s Divisions ; and
(iv) the number of registered voters as per the Electoral register of 2009, of the Bandaragama Pradesheeya Sabha area?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the number of Pradesheeya Sabhas, that have more number of registered voters than the number in the Bandaragama Pradesheeya Sabha ;
(ii) what those Pradesheeya Sabhas are ; and
(iii) separately, of the number of registered voters in each of those Pradesheeya Sabhas?
(c) Will he state whether arrangements will be made to split the Bandaragama Pradesheeya Sabha area in to two Pradesheeya Sabha areas as Bandaragama and Millaniya or into two local government bodies as Bandaragama Urban Council and Millaniya Pradesheeya Sabha, in view of the dense population, geographical location and administrative convenience?
(d) Will he state as to when such new local government areas will be demarcated, if there is a plan to do so?
(e) If not, why?
