Hon. Nalin Bandara Jayamaha,— To ask the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the electricity generation capacity of Sri Lanka as of 31.12.2015;
(ii) the electricity generated through renewable energy sources as a percentage of the total electricity generation capacity;
(iii) the position in which Sri Lanka stands among countries in the world that use renewable energy sources for the generation of electricity; and
(iv) the value of investments made within the last 10 years by the government of Sri Lanka or institutions affiliated to the government for the generation of electricity using solar power, wind power, and biomass energy sources?
(b) Will he also inform this House of the reason for the investments made by the government with relevance to the generation of electricity using wind power, solar power and biomass energy sources to remain at a minimum level?
(c) If not, why?
