0950/2016: Water Supply Projects and Community Water Supply Projects - Divulapitiya

Hon. Indika Anuruddha Herath,— To ask the Minister of City Planning and Water Supply,—

(a) Will he inform this House —

(i) whether a survey has been carried out regarding the number of families that have to be provided with pipe-borne drinking water in the Divulapitiya electorate;

(ii) of the number of families to which pipe-borne water is provided through water supply schemes of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board;

(iii) of the aforesaid figure as a percentage of the total requirement;

(iv) of the number of consumers that have applied for new water connections;

(v) of the number of consumers that would be provided with water supply under the existing water supply scheme out of the aforesaid requirement;

(vi) whether the capacity of the existing project is sufficient to provide new water connections;

(vii) if not, whether a course of action is available to increase capacity; and

(viii) if so, of the said course of action?

(b) Will he also inform this House —

(i) of the number of community water supply schemes that are implemented in the electorate;

(ii) of the number of families to which drinking water is supplied through the aforesaid schemes;

(iii) whether a course of action is available to improve community water supply schemes; and

(iv) if so, of the said course of action?

(c) Will he state —

(i) the current progress of the Divulapitiya Water Supply Scheme;

(ii) the amount of money that will be spent on the said scheme;

(iii) whether Cabinet approval has been granted for that;

(iv) the number of families which have been planned to be provided with water; and

(v) the date on which the project will be commenced?

(d) If not, why?
