Hon. T. Ranjith De Zoysa,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the extent of hectares of the paddy fields got damaged due to sudden floods in last May;
(ii) of the approximate loss, incurred due to aforesaid damage;
(iii) of the number of irrigation systems, got damaged together with small tanks; and
(iv) separately, of the districts where damaged irrigation projects are located?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether aforesaid flood has an impact on the future food security of the country;
(ii) whether the government will take measures to provide relief for the distressed farming community; and
(iii) if so, in which manner?
(c) If not, why?
