0678/2016: Pensions for Disabled triservices members

Hon. T. Ranjith De Zoysa,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—

(a) Will he inform this House—

(i) the number of war heroes over 55 years of age who were sent on retirement as disabled war heroes on medical grounds while on active duty in the Army, the Air force, the Navy, the Police and the Civil Security Force which belong to the State Security Service; and

(ii) the allowances paid to the said officers and the value of each of the allowances?

(b) Will he also inform this House—

(i) whether the disability pension paid to disabled war heroes is paid to officers mentioned in (a)(i) above;

(ii) the allowance paid to them treating them as ordinary public servants, after the suspension of the disability pension upon the completion of 55 years; 

(iii) whether the allowance paid as indicated in (ii) above for a totally disabled person is reasonable;

(iv) if a disabled soldier died before completing 55 years of age, whether an allowance is paid to his dependents; and

(v) if so, the method used in this regard?

(c) If not, why?
