Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka,— To ask Minister of Lands,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) the land located at No.47, Beach Road, Matara in the Kotuwegoda Grama Niladhari Division of the Matara Divisional Secretariat Division which belongs to Mr. Siraj Cader of No. 793, Sapumal Place, Pelawatta, Battaramulla, was taken over from him temporarily and returned by the District Secretary of Matara in order to hold the Victory Celebrations in years 2014 and 2015;
(ii) a notification had been issued by the Divisional Secretary of Matara on 04.12.2014 under Section 2 of the Land Aquisition Act in order to aquire the said land which was returned to Mr. Cader after the celebration in 2014;
(iii) Mr. Cader has made a request through the letter dated 19.12.2014 to the effect that the land aquisition order mentioned in a(i) above be cancelled; and
(iv) the aforementioned owner is unable to develop the said land in a productive manner since the said notification has not been cancelled up to now?
(b) Will he inform this House whether action will be taken immediately to cancel the aforementioned land acquisition notification?
(c) If not, why?
