Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minster of Agriculture,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the extent of land in which soya beans had been grown in Sri Lanka by the year 2015;
(ii) the soya beans production in each year during the period from the year 2010 up to 2015 separately in kilograms;
(iii) whether the government directly purchases soya beans from farmers; and
(iv) if so, the quantity of soya beans purchased by the Government in each year during the last five years separately?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether steps will be taken by the Government to enhance soya beans production; and
(ii) if so, the aforesaid steps;
(c) If not, why?
