Hon. Kanaka Herath,— To ask the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine,—
(a) Is he aware that chemicals are used in cultivating and ripening fruits and vegetables in Sri Lanka?
(b) Will he accept that—
(i) the health condition of the people, gets deteriorated due to the consumption of the vegetables and the fruits for which chemicals have been used;
(ii) people are subjected to hazardous diseases like cancers and excessive deposit of cholesterol due to the exposure to aforesaid chemicals?
(c) Will he inform this House of the measures taken by the government to minimize the use of chemicals?
(d) If not, why?
