Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Minister of National Heritage and Cultural Affairs,—
(a) Will she inform this House —
(i) whether any chemical was used to chase away the wasp colonies of Sigiriya National Heritage site;
(ii) whether other species of insects have invaded that site as a result of chasing away the wasps;
(iii) if so, the measures that will be taken in that respect; and
(iv) whether Sigiriya archaeological site has been sold or leased out to a Japanese Company or any other similar measure has been taken?
(b) Is she aware that toilets are being constructed at the foot of the Sigiriya rock?
(c) Will she take steps to stop all constructions carried out in a manner which is harmful to the Sigiriya rock?
(d) If not, why?
