Hon. Hesha Withanage,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs,—
(a) Will he state—
(i) whether he is aware that an Army camp has been set up by now on the beautiful plot of land located in the Chandrika Wewa Reserve in Embilipitiya Divisional Secretariat Division, where a forest cultivation had been started;
(ii) by whom permission has been granted for that;
(iii) the date on which permission was granted; and
(iv) whether he admits that huge deforestation has occurred in the area surrounding this beautiful Chandrika Wewa and that the tank is being polluted as a result?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the institution which owns this plot of land;
(ii) whether this has been legally transferred by them to some institution for forest cultivation;
(iii) if so, what that institution is; and
(iv) of the measures that will be taken to protect this beautiful Chandrika Wewa Reserve?
(c) If not, why?
