Hon. Hesha Withanage,— To ask the Minister of Higher Education and Highways,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) malpractices have been caused in Rakwana–Madampe road carpeting project;
(ii) the measures were taken to complete the project, having changed the initial plans to a great deal; and
(iii) subsequent to the discussions, it was agreed to carry out the project works according to the initial plan?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the steps taken against the authorities who completed the project, having changed the initial plan to a great deal;
(ii) of the date on which the project was expected to be completed, according to the initial plan;
(iii) of the additional amount of money that has to be spent due to the fact that the project was not properly implemented; and
(iv) whether measures will be taken to recover aforesaid amount of money from the responsible persons?
(c) If not, why?
