      Hon. (Dr.) A. R. A. Hafeez,— To ask the  Minister of Megapolis and Western Development,—

      (a) Is he aware that—

      (i) Brandiyawatta, Welewatta and Wennawatta areas belonging to Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat Division in Colombo district, are in a low-lying area; and

      (ii) houses, shops, religious places and roads in the area get flooded on rainy days as a result of not cleaning the canals running across that area for a long period of time?

      (b) Will he inform this House whether instructions will be given to clean those canals?

      (c) If not, why?
