Hon. Dullas Alahapperuma,— To ask the Minister of Finance,—
(a) Will he admit the facts that—
(i) it was stated by presenting the Interim Budget for the year 2015, that the minimum salary of private sector employees would be increased by Rs. 2500/=;
(ii) however, no private sector employee received the relevant Rs. 2500/= salary increase till the 01st of November 2015; and
(iii) the minimum salary of the private sector employees has to go up by Rs. 5000/= with arrears, for the year 2016, as the minimum salary of the public sector employees was increased by Rs. 10,000/=?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) the total number of employees that represent the private sector of Sri Lanka as at 01.11.2015 as males and females, separately;
(ii) whether there are employees who have not been contributed to the Employees Provident Fund; and
(iii) if so, the reasons for that?
(c) If not, why?
